I am happy to announce that Ripley County has successfully completed its renewal to be StormReady. Ripley County has been StormReady since 2015 and the National Weather Service now requires renewal every 4 years. Only 4 counties in District 9 have this status. Rich Corkhum, EMA Weather Liaison/Admin Assistant, was very instrumental in making this happen as it is because of his work we have such a great working relationship with our partners at the National Weather Service in Wilmington OH. Additional information on the StormReady program can be found at https://www.weather.gov/stormready/

The Ripley County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) staff and volunteers are committed to serve and protect the citizens, homes, and businesses in Ripley County. Like all Indiana counties, Ripley County is vulnerable to a wide range of hazards including natural, technological and man-made disasters, and taking steps to cope with disasters and to work with other county and state agencies are important aspects of Ripley County EMA’s day-to-day operations.

The Ripley County Emergency Management Agency is authorized by Indiana Statute Title 10 and works closely with public safety agencies and other partners within the county to coordinate activities and provide a comprehensive approach to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recovery from these events that affect or threatened Ripley County.

Ripley County EMA is the local link to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which both provide financial assistance in the event of a significant disaster, as well as assisting in obtaining homeland security grant funding.

On this site you will find many useful links and information that explain how you can become better prepared in case of a disaster. Please use the information and share it with others to better protect yourself, your family, and your community.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Ripley County Emergency Management Agency at [email protected] or 812-689-0505.

Thank you.
