The Ripley County Commissioners have passed an ordinance regarding false alarm calls to both residences and businesses. This ordinance states that residents and business owners will be charged after the third false alarm call to their property. On the third call a charge of $25 will be imposed, fourth call will be $50 and the fifth call forward will be $100. All fines will be paid at the Sheriff's Office. The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office has recently begun to use a new records management and computer aided dispatch system. This system allows us to add much more information so that we can better serve the community. At this time, we are asking for your help. We would like to add those with special needs to our system in order get them the help they need and handle their situation correctly.
For example, we would add a child with autism with information on his/her address, likes or dislikes, parents contact number, school, etc. or a child with a physical need so that the fire department would know where to find them in the home should there be a fire. We can also add adults with physical needs or Alzheimer’s.
We have a form that we would like for parents or guardians to fill out and return to us with a photo attached. Once this information is returned to the Sheriff’s Office, your child or family member will be added to the system, should an emergency arise, dispatchers will have all of the important information to give to the officers responding.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Department has recently subscribed to LeadsOnline, which is a Nationwide database of Pawn/Scrap transactions. This system has played a large role in solving multiple crimes that have occurred in Ripley County in the short time since the Sheriff’s Department started using it. A feature of this database is available to the citizens of Ripley County, called “ReportIt”. This feature is a Safe, Secure, and FREE site where residents can create a list of their valuables, including item descriptions, photographs of the items, scanned receipts, and most importantly the serial numbers of their valuables.

In the event that you are ever the victim of a crime and your property is taken, you can provide the descriptions and serial numbers of the items to Law Enforcement. Having the serial numbers for your valuables and providing those to Law Enforcement significantly increases the chances of your property being recovered, as well as the suspect being identified and held accountable for their actions.
